Itinerary
Day 1Kampala-Kibale National Park
After early breakfast, Leave Kampala for a half day drive west via Mityana to Fort Portal through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Nile Delta to Kibale National Park just under the Ruwenzori Mountains as you pass through verdant countryside and traditional homesteads and farms. A stopover in Fort Portal for lunch at a local restaurant. Thereafter drive at your Leisure to Kibale. Dinner and overnight. As you prepare next day chimpanzee tracking in forest!
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and crater lakes walk
An early morning visit after your breakfast inside Kibale Forest National Park, reputable of having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa for chimpanzee trekking starting at 8.00 am. A half day search for chimpanzees and other primates including phoestes, Red-Colobuses, Blues, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabay swinging through the dense forest and birds, butterflies and many small insects. The guide will provide detailed explanations on not only primates, but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is informative, enjoyable and excellent for viewing bird life and primates in close quarters. After lunch, go for the crater lakes walk with stunning views of Kibale forest and three crater lakes.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala
After your breakfast, take a visit to the surrounding communities to explore and learn about their socio-cultural way of life including the neighboring schools, alternatively visit tea estate plantations, and later after proceed to Kampala with lunch en route.
