Several forests have been gazetted as national parks. These protected areas are managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). Many adventure activities can be enjoyed when you visit Uganda national parks . Popular adventure activities include birding, chimpanzee tracking, game drives, launch cruise, gorilla trekking, nature walks, mountaineering among others are some of the most enjoyed in the vast green land in Africa.

Owing to a variety of habitats with abundant grass and browse, Uganda supports an incredibly high species biodiversity with a high level of endemism (e.g. mountain gorillas). In order to protect and effectively manage these invaluable resources on a sustainable basis, the Uganda National Parks Authority was established in 1952. Later it transformed into the Uganda Wildlife Authority, a government parastatal that presently manages ten national parks, namely: Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth, Kidepo Valley, Lake Mburo, Rwenzori Mountain, Bwindi Impenetrable, Mgahinga Gorilla, Mt. Elgon, Semuliki, and Kibale National Parks. Each of these parks is to a large extent unique from the others and one will have a real different experience in each of the parks visited.

Everyone is welcome year round provided you purchase a Uganda tourist visa at only $50 valid for 90 days. These natural wonders are celebrated every day on different Uganda safaris and no visit to Uganda can disappoint. The popular Bwindi & Mgahinga National Park are a home to mountain gorillas, while Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls are fine parks for wildlife excursions, chimpanzee trekking and launch cruise. Uganda can be visited with either prior arrangement with a tour operator or expert for a particular holiday trip program of interest or make last minute Uganda tour booking and explore the beautiful country.
