Zoka central forest reserve is part of the larger East Moyo wildlife reserve this reserve is among the protective tropical rain forest positioned in the Northern Region of Uganda situated in the southern part of Adjumani District.
This forest reserve is the only natural forest resource in Adjumani district covers an area of almost 1259 hectares (12.59) kilometer squared) with (486 square miles) own coordinates of 03 degree 01’03” North 31 degrees 39’21” East.
Visiting Zoka Central Forest Reserve
Zoka Central Forest Reserve can be visited all year round however mostly good during the dry seasons, of June to August and December to February because during these periods there is less rainfall received. The weather is more favorable for outdoor activities.
Zoka Central Forest Reserve faced challenges of deforestation many of the tree species were cut off and being used for both commercial and home consumption facilities. The forest land was cleared for sugar cane plantation hence resulted in to intensive soil erosion and destruction for natural habitat for wildlife.
